YOUTH SOCCER INFRASTRUCTURE

Though there are more rural areas of western Pennsylvania with a long history of soccer, its growth in the 1960s and 70s at the youth level came in suburban high schools and private club systems. These systems have grown hand in hand with the domestic soccer experience. However, in recent years the importation of the European youth academy model has profoundly altered Pittsburgh's youth soccer infrastructure, and experience of youth soccer training for both boys and girls alike.
