YOUTH HOCKEY INFRASTRUCTURE

In 2010, hoping to capitalize upon the success of Sidney Crosby and the 2009 Stanley Cup win,  Penguins CEO David Morehouse decided to invest heavily in Pittsburgh's youth hockey infrastructure. This was done in two ways. The first was primarily domestic, with a number of programs created to attract young fans to the sport. These initiatives were aimed at connecting Pittsburghers to their team. The second method of building Pittsburgh's hockey scene was the advancement of an international development model through the establishment of an elite youth hockey academy in 2017, to attract players from around the world.
